Top 5 Pubs in Dublin (According to our Staff)

a cup of coffee sitting on top of a building

We asked everyone in our staff what the best pubs in Dublin were, and we found the answers, in no particular order. (Bear in mind, we are in fact experts at “the sesh”)

In no particular order:

The Gravedigger’s Pub (Kavanagh’s)

This historic pub was opened exactly one year after the Glasnevin Cemetery opened in 1832…right next to the main entrance.

In terms of business acumen, you can’t beat them, In terms of disturbing the peace, well the cemetery was none too happy.

Not only were the funeral goers stopping in and leaving caskets outside the pub, but the cemetery’s own staff could usually be found there while they were clocked-in.

So a few years later, the Cemetery changed the entrance location, and bought up the surrounding land to avoid the same fate.

This pub has no TV, no music, and is nearly exactly the same as when it opened. The pints are also unbeatable, which is the most important part.

Cobblestones

The Cobblestones is not so much a pub as it is an institution in Dublin.

It can be hard to keep track of all the Traditional Music sessions in Dublin, and when they are playing or not playing. Plus cross-checking with which ones have the best pints?? It can seem impossible

Which is why the Cobblestones pub just does a trad sesh every night. Keeps it simple.

This historic pub is never empty, as it matches its musical prowess with its own boisterous personality.

Tourists and locals alike enjoy a top-tier pint of Guinness and listening to locals play the music of Ireland

Toners

Established in 1734, this is one of Dublin’s oldest and most famous pubs. They make their own whiskey, and have hosted legends from across the history of Dublin, including Phil Lynott, singer for Thin Lizzy

And as beautiful and fun as this pub is on its own, they also have a deal with the pizza place, Cirillos, voted Europes best pizza. That’s right, you can eat pizza and enjoy your pint at the same time. Honestly what else would you ask for?

Cassidy’s

This pub is one for our alternative crowd, Cassidy’s has catered to the witchy and weird for years!

We love the candles, the rock music, the craft beers, and to be honest, we never say no to one of their “Cans of the Week” which are unique to the pub

And if I am speaking personally, their ginger beer with bitters is the best in town!

Vintage Cocktail Club

Okay, okay it’s not a pub, but hear us out!

You’ve found us right? So we assume you’re a fan of the vintage and anything full of character! So we know you’re going to love this 1920’s themed Speak easy!

Cozy vintage-style lounge with armchairs, small tables, framed photos, and warm lighting.

You knock on the door, which looks like a loading door, tucked away in the Temple Bar area. When they open it up, they show you upstairs and you are greeted by old-world glamour, cozy lounges, and delectable, original cocktails

Sure you could go for a G&T, or you could go for the one of the many house-created drinks, all with a dash of history thrown in-as they explain on their menus

And you order your drink by year it was inspired, not just the name of it. This cocktail lounge is one of decadence and fun!
