Olivia in Dublin-The Little Museum
Today I took a tour at The Little Museum of Dublin. It was a very interesting and entertaining trip. I learnt not only about the history of Dublin but about the great artists and historical figures that shaped the city we all know and love.
First, we were greeted by our very friendly tour guide, Emma, who brought us into the museum’s many well-decorated rooms, with each room having its own theme and timeline. Emma was very funny and entertaining, and it really made the whole experience memorable.
She was very entertaining but also informative. She spoke about Hibernian English and the history behind them coming to Ireland 12,000 years ago. We discussed the Celtic settlement of New Grange.
One of the most unique parts of the tour was the “Time Traveling Sofa.” It was an imaginative leap that landed us right in 841 AD, the year the Vikings established a permanent settlement in Dublin.
We moved to another room where Emma talked about the era of the Easter Rising and the Civil War. The walls were lined with photos of heroes, artists, and authors, the people who shaped Dublin’s history.
Stepping into the next room she spoke more about recent past. We explored 20th century Dublin, focusing on the evolution of politics and the fight for women’s rights. We also revisited the cultural impact of the Pope’s visit, a moment that stands as a landmark in modern Irish memory.
We wrapped up our tour with a song called ‘Raglan Road’ led by our tour guide. It was the perfect way to complete our experience. Even after the tour we got to wander around the well decorated museum, which was definitely a highlight for me.
