Euan in Dublin: The Irish Rock ‘n’ Roll Museum

Today I took a tour of the Irish Rock ‘n’ Roll Museum Experience. It was a fantastic trip, and I learned loads about Irish artists, and their careers. Located in the heart of Temple Bar, this is a great option for a day out!

First, we were greeted by a very friendly guide who told us about the history and reasoning behind opening the museum.
We then headed downstairs to the “Rory Gallagher Corner”, which was an area dedicated to the Irish musician, Rory Gallagher. Here we got a very insightful talk about Gallagher’s life, and how he rose to fame.

Exhibit featuring guitars in glass cases, wall art, and framed photos in a studio setting.

Next, we went to the U2 studio, which was a really cool place to visit. This is where one of the most famous Irish rock bands, U2, practised and wrote songs. While in this room, our guide told us how they formed their careers in the music industry.

Just a short walk through a corridor filled with records and instruments, we found ourselves in the small cinema, where we watched a short film about the museum and all the famous Irish musicians. (It was a very interesting and enjoyable watch)

After taking a walk through the hallways, covered with records, and exploring two more smaller studios, we crossed the street to another building, where we were met with some history.

On the second floor, we were told more information about some displays, and then made our way into the “Thin Lizzy” room. This room was amazing. It was filled with musical instruments and recording devices used by the band, Thin Lizzy. It was incredible how many authentic items this museum had. We got to explore this room as our guide regaled us all with stories about Thin Lizzy’s life, and then watched a short video about him.

Finally, we rounded off the tour with a trip to the gift shop.
Overall, this was a fantastic, fun and insightful trip looking into the world of Irish music!
